Introduction
A 2-day introductory online course for Practice Nurses new to the area of contraception and family planning. Covering all contraceptive options offered within General Practice; enabling HCP’s to perform simple ‘pill checks’, ‘Depo injections’ and signpost for Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC). Understanding of LARCS and EC is essential and these days fit well with the RCOG guidelines for practice nurse level 1 competencies in this area.

- Understanding hormones
- What is UKMEC and its role in delivery?
- Combined Hormonal Contraception – the rules – contraindications.
- POP – the rules – contraindications
- Case Studies re: CHC/Depo and POP
- LARC (Nexplanon and IUC) – an overview
Day 2 – Dr Ruth Reakes
- Emergency contraception – an overview
- Asymptomatic STI Screening
- Depo – the rules – contraindications
- Case studies and bringing it all together
- Evaluations and close
