£300Introduction to Immunisations and Injection Technique for Healthcare Assistants (2-Day Course)
Join us for this comprehensive 2-day course at the Lambert Hotel in Lewknor, designed specifically for non-registered staff, including healthcare assistants, who have not received formal training in immunisations or injection techniques. This course aligns with the mandatory requirements of Public Health England’s (2015) Immunisation training for healthcare support workers, covering national minimum standards and a core curriculum.
Upon completion of the course, a short exam with an 80% pass rate will be administered. Delegates will receive guidance on gaining competence in their workplace following a period of supervision.
Day 1
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the overall principles of immunisations.
2. Grasp the importance of national cohort vaccination programs, including Influenza, Shingles, and Pneumococcal.
3. Review general immunisation theory and basic Anatomy & Physiology (A&P), including available resources.
4. Learn injection techniques for both Subcutaneous (SC) and Intramuscular (IM) administrations.
5. Begin providing safe and effective care in alignment with National Guidelines after a period of supervised practice.
6. Consider legal, ethical, and indemnity requirements regarding the administration of immunisations and injections by non-registered staff.
Day 2
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the principles of consent in the context of immunisations and injections.
2. Learn about maintaining the cold chain, proper vaccine storage, and disposal procedures.
3. Explore at-risk groups and vaccines within the national program.
4. Gain knowledge about B12 and Pernicious Anemia.
5. Identify side effects, contraindications, and precautions associated with immunisations and injections.
6. Understand allergies, anaphylaxis, and the requirement for basic life support training.
7. Participate in case studies and group learning activities.
