Paediatric Minor Illness: Assessment and Management in Primary Care

This two-day Paediatric Minor Illness course welcomes all practitioners working in Primary Care and Urgent Hubs. This popular course addresses many of the fears and concerns practitioners have when treating children in Primary Care.

The Paediatric Minor Illness: Assessment and Management in Primary Care course is delivered across 2 days with the days usually being 2 weeks apart to support practices not having practitioners out of practice for 2 consecutive days.

Day 1 – 23rd September 2024 covers

Childhood Development, Safeguarding, Communicating with the child, Paediatric history taking, Paediatric examination, The acutely unwell child and the journey from home to GP and GP to Hospital. The day includes paediatric minor illness scenarios including UTI’s and acute exacerbation of asthma.

Day 2 – 7th October 2024 covers

Minor Illness problem-based scenarios and is delivered in a clinic format. Illnesses covered include respiratory infections, abdominal presentations, ear infection, eczema, sore throat, joint pain and some more serious/sinister presentations. There is a full session on rashes seen in children. This course also covers updated guidance and current Paediatric Illness issues affecting the UK.

The course covers all ages of children and aims to increase knowledge, skills and confidence in managing childhood illness in Primary Care.
