Legacy Mentor – Primary Care (4 x 0.2 WTE. 1-year Fixed Term Contract)

A secondment opportunity in the ICB for Practice Nurses to become Legacy Mentors has become available. As this is a secondment you will need to ensure your Practice is able to facilitate payment through a MOU (memorandum of Understanding).

The Legacy Mentor role should appeal to an experienced Primary Care Nurse in the later stages of their career. This role could include helping newly qualified and transitioning to Primary Care Nurses, students and those returning to practice by imparting your knowledge, skills and experience through coaching and supporting them through early and transitional stages within their careers. You will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about your profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others.  We can all reflect on the importance of mentors and role models in our own careers, and this is an opportunity to have that kind of influence on the incoming generation as they set out on a career in health and care.

This role will be key in supporting colleagues to remain in post and stay well. You will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others.  You will be providing coaching and mentoring. We are happy to provide training for someone with the right skills and attitude needed for this role.

You will either have a degree or relevant experience and hold a current professional registration. In addition, you should have either have an accredited teaching qualification or experience in supporting learners in practice.

You may work throughout different Primary Care Networks using a coaching model and within your sphere of practice. Your roles may include mentoring; newly qualified professionals or supporting practice placement for learners.  In addition, supporting staff transitioning across clinical landscapes and providing coaching for colleagues to flourish.

You will be able to work flexibly within organisations to mentor and coach colleagues as well as work from home when necessary.
