Gloucestershire Primary Care Training Hub Apprenticeship Awards 2024

Staff from Gloucestershire Primary Care Training Hub paid surprise visits to two Practices, to present winners of our Annual Primary Care Training Hub Apprenticeship Awards, with their certificate and prizes.

The awards launched as part of National Apprenticeships week, and invited nominations from across primary care, for those undertaking or supporting apprenticeships. The awards highlighted and celebrated the fantastic achievements of individuals across the system who are utilising apprenticeships to upskill themselves and going above and beyond to provide excellent care to their patients.

Lorraine Cruz Mendoza, who works from a practice in Gloucester, and Tracey Carruthers who works for a practice in the Forest of Dean both won for their Clinical Apprenticeships.

Lorraine Cruz Mendoza

TNA Apprentice

Lorraine who was nominated by her practice manager, was celebrated for her dedication, hard work and tenacity, her incredible dedication to her studies and her role, a passion for her job and great potential for future development. Her colleagues were delighted to share in her success and felt privileged to have her working with them. Lorraine is hoping to use the bursary prize to further her development and become an advocate for patients with learning difficulties. Needless to say she was shocked to receive the award as her practice manager and colleagues had kept her nomination a secret, but we were delighted to present the award and thank Lorraine on behalf of the system for all her work.

Tracey Carruthers

Advanced Practice Apprentice

Tracey’s nominator spoke of her superb reflective learning and dedication to the role and demonstrating capabilities far beyond her current level and stage of training. She has shown progression across all 4 pillars of advanced practice and has been broadening her clinical skills to support a wider cross section of our patients. She has shown a great passion and enthusiasm for her role and incredible contribution to her practice and those they serve. Tracey’s colleagues were delighted to learn of her nomination and joined us in celebrating her achievement.  Tracey was also delighted and shocked to have received the award and looks forward to utilising the Bursary prize towards her onward development.

Congratulations to two very deserving winners. If you know of an apprentice or mentor working in Primary Care who deserves recognition for their work, keep an eye on the Training Hub website and be sure to nominate them when the 2025 awards open.
