Could your practice offer a newly qualified nurse their first role in general practice?
The Primary Care Training Hub maintains a list of student Nurses who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in General Practice after qualification. We would like to make Practices across Gloucestershire aware of this opportunity and encourage those anticipating a vacancy, workforce need, or future recruitment opportunity to consider employing a newly qualified Nurse.
By connecting aspiring Nurses with practices seeking to grow their workforce, we can help support the next generation of General Practice Nurses while strengthening the sustainability of Primary Care services across Gloucestershire.
Supporting New Nurses to Thrive
To help Nurses and Registered Nursing Associates transition successfully into their roles, the Gloucestershire General Practice Nursing Preceptorship Programme runs twice a year, with cohorts commencing in April and September.
The programme provides:
- Structured educational sessions
- Peer support and networking opportunities
- Professional development and reflective learning
- Increased confidence in delivering care within general practice
- Development of clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the primary care setting
The programme is fully funded, with no cost to either the practice or the participant.
Nurses and Registered Nursing associates who are new to your practice can join the programme at any stage, ensuring support is available both for those entering General Practice for the first time and for colleagues who may be new to your organisation. Participants can also select the sessions most relevant to their learning needs, making the programme flexible and responsive to individual experience and development requirements.
