Clinical Coding – The Basics – SNOMED CT Coding

Learn how to master your surgery’s coding in order to maximise accuracy, efficiency and profitability. It is intended for staff seeking to increase their understanding of clinical coding and is suitable both for those with experience and for individuals new to coding.
Aims & Objectives:
Accurate coding is considered essential for effective patient care. The course aims to provide delegates with an understanding of SNOMED CT, demonstrate how coding cansupport QAIF/QOF objectives and patient safety, outline processes to ensure coding accuracy, and offer guidance on searching for codes.
• Understanding the need for SNOMED CT coding
• Successfully navigate the browser to locate correct codes
• Improve data quality
• Understand the consequences of both accurate and inaccurate coding and understand common coding misconceptions
• Using templates to record all relevant information
• Operating an electronic recall system
• Managing the change from Read to SNOMED CT
