Support the Future of Our Workforce: Host a T Level Student

Would you like to help shape the next generation of healthcare professionals—and maybe even find your next team member in the process?

T Level placements offer a fantastic opportunity for Primary Care Networks across Gloucestershire to support young people aged 16–18 as they take their first steps into the working world. These placements benefit both students and hosts, providing real-world experience while introducing fresh perspectives and energy into your team.

We’re proud to say that over 80 students are currently on placement across Gloucestershire, gaining hands-on experience and building vital skills.

What Are T Levels?

T Levels are two-year qualifications that combine classroom learning with industry placements. Students spend 45 days in the workplace over 2 years, developing key skills and exploring potential careers. They study a range of pathways, including Health, Digital, Business, and Marketing.

Why Host a T Level Student?

Whether you’re in a clinical or non-clinical setting, there’s real value in welcoming a student into your team. You might:

  • Host a Health student who supports patient care or shadowing duties in a GP practice
  • Welcome a Digital student to assist with IT systems, website updates, or data management
  • Work with a Marketing or Business student on communications, newsletters, or patient engagement strategies

In return, you’ll benefit from their enthusiasm, curiosity, and innovative thinking. It’s also a brilliant opportunity to develop your own coaching and mentoring skills, while giving back to your community.

How Does It Work?

  • Start Date: Students will start their courses in September, and are available for Placements to start any time between October and February
  • Placement Structure: One day a week for 45 weeks is suggested, and the days can be confirmed with colleges.  Digital students can do up to 50% of their placements remotely, and all other courses 20% (allowing you flexibility in supervision!)
  • Support Provided: Any support, training and guidance will be offered through the We Want You team. Minimal paperwork!
  • Your Role: Offer a welcoming environment, involve the student in relevant tasks, and support their development. You won’t need to formally assess them—but your feedback helps us track progress and tailor support.

Placements can be flexible—you might offer a rotation across different areas or focus on a single location. Either way, we’ll support you every step of the way.

Next Steps

We’ll be running a Q&A session later this year for prospective supervisors, including tips and training to make your placement experience rewarding and stress-free. Once placements are confirmed, students will apply and interview. You can be as involved in this as you’d like.
