Friday 5th September – Information regarding funding
When considering if you should apply for an Apprenticeship, one of the principal factors that may come into mind is, how does the funding work?
Did you know that most GP Practices are eligible for a Levy Transfer which could result in 100% of the Apprenticeship cost being covered? The only cost to your Practice would be releasing you to complete your Apprenticeship during working hours. However, the payoff will be that the Practice will benefit from the vast skill sets its employees develop.
What is a Levy? Is my Practice a Levy paying employer? Find out more here – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pay-apprenticeship-levy#who-needs-to-pay-apprenticeship-levy
If your employer is Non-Levy paying employer, they can reserve 95% of the apprenticeship cost through government funding. This is called ‘co-investment’. This means Non-levy employers pay 5% towards the cost of apprenticeship training. The government will pay the rest (95%) up to the funding band maximum.
Apprenticeships can also be funded via Levy Transfers; this is when a levy paying employer agrees to fund 100% of the course fees for an apprentice who is employed by a different organisation (either Local or National.)
Do you have any questions regarding Levy Transfers? You can contact Mandy Tuckey – ICS Apprenticeship and Widening Participation Programme Lead at – mandy.tuckey@nhs.net or us at – glicb.pcwc@nhs.net
