The Gloucestershire Women’s Health champions are excited to offer a free series of online one hour ‘lunch and learn’ sessions on Menopause and HRT. Each session will include a short presentation and plenty of time to ask any questions you may have, as well as some case scenarios if time allows.
Session 1: Diagnosing menopause and the risks and benefits of HRT
This session will cover a recap of the physiology and diagnosis of menopause and perimenopause, and the common symptoms that women experience. We will also look at some of the benefits of HRT and the risks that women may be concerned about.
Session 2: Lifestyle measures and non-hormonal treatments for menopause
This session will cover the things that women can do themselves that can help with menopausal symptoms, and what the evidence tells us about lifestyle factors. We will also look at some of the non-hormonal treatments available that may help.
Session 3: Practical HRT prescribing
This session will look at the practicalities of starting women on HRT, and how to select an appropriate HRT regime. This includes the difference between combined and oestrogen only HRT, and between cyclical and continuous HRT and when to use each.
Session 4: Reviewing, adjusting and tailoring HRT treatment
This session will cover what should be included in an HRT review. We will also look at adjusting HRT dose, and problems that women might encounter that could prompt us to consider changing the oestrogen and/or progesterone preparations.
Session 5: Unscheduled bleeding on HRT
This session will look at some common scenarios involving bleeding problems on HRT and how to manage unscheduled bleeding. We will look at the most up to date guidance on this, including the BMS guideline and the G-Care unscheduled bleeding pathway.
Session 6: Genitourinary symptoms of menopause, sexual function and testosterone
This session will include the assessment and management of genitourinary symptoms of menopause. We will also look at how to approach sexual problems in the menopause, and when prescribing testosterone may be appropriate.
