The Challenging Conversations in Pain Management is an interactive evening workshop
designed to help healthcare professionals and community partners build skills and confidence
in navigating complex discussions with people living with persistent pain.
Persistent pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek help, but also one of the
most challenging to manage. Treatments often provide limited benefit, leaving both patients
and professionals frustrated. This workshop will focus on improving communication, learning
about patient perspectives, and exploring practical strategies to support patients with empathy
while also looking after your own wellbeing.
The workshops will focus on:
Discussing the challenges of supporting patients with chronic pain
Practicing techniques for initiating and progressing difficult conversations
Strategies for self-care when supporting patients with complex needs
Facilitated by Dr Cathy Stannard, Kate Seddon, and Chris Davies, the session will combine
discussion, shared learning, and practical techniques you can take back to your practice.
