GP Assistant (GPA) – Additional Training programme available – Please submit EOIs:

We are pleased to announce that a further GP Assistant Training course is now taking Expressions of Interest (EOI). Noting that places are limited, we would encourage anyone interested in completing the programme to submit their EOI asap.

Please note, the deadline for applications is Thursday 31st October 2024.

If you have colleagues who would be interested in submitting an EOI for the GPA training, please see information and contact details below:

Accredited training:

  • The course will take 9-months to complete, and learners will need to dedicate one full day a week to the course, which can be achieved flexibly whilst remaining in their place of work.
  • Learners will need to be supported by a named GP in practice who will act as mentor and assessor.
  • There are no formal qualification requirements. Candidates should be considered competent from their experience as practice administrators or healthcare assistants and possess a current Enhanced DBS disclosure.
  • There is no charge for participating in this programme.  There will be a total of £2,120 paid to PCNs and GP practices per GPA. This would be split between £1,700 plus a further £420 for the GPA mentor. Therefore, a total of £2,120 will be paid directly to the GP practice taking part.
