National Paramedics Day 2026 – Social Media Post

🚑 Celebrating Paramedics in General Practice – National Paramedics Day, 8 July 2026 🚑

Noting the increasingly important role of Paramedics in General Practice, Gloucestershire Primary Care Training Hub wanted to recognise the work our Paramedics undertake on National Paramedics Day. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Innovate & Integrate’ highlighting paramedics’ adaptability and innovation in healthcare’.

Working alongside a range of healthcare professionals in General Practice, Paramedics provide urgent same-day care for patients across a range of conditions, including infections, abdominal pain, minor illness and acute flare-ups of long-term conditions. Paramedics in General Practice also support housebound patients, undertake clinical assessments, request investigations, prescribe medication and help ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time.

By managing urgent appointments, Paramedics help increase access for patients and free up GP time to focus on people with more complex or long-term healthcare needs. This strengthens the whole practice team and improves the patient experience through faster access to appropriate care.  Paramedics in General Practice are also developing specialist skills through advanced training, teaching future healthcare professionals and contributing to service improvement and multidisciplinary working.

In the following case study, a local Paramedic highlights how Gloucestershire Paramedics are adapting their skills to meet the changing needs of healthcare, using their clinical expertise to deliver safe, responsive, and patient-centred care within general practice. As we mark National Paramedics Day on 8 July, we’d like to thank all the Paramedics working in our GP practices for their expertise, compassion, and contribution to patient care.
