Primary Care Women’s Health Champions are an exciting initiative being launched by the Women’s Health Programme Team. The role of Primary Care Women’s Health Champion would be suitable for a GP with an interest in Women’s Health looking to develop a portfolio career.
The team are looking for six Primary Care Women’s Health Champions to work in conjunction with all practices across the six localities in Gloucestershire. The designated lead champion will support coordination of all six women’s health champions. The six localities s are: Cheltenham, Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, Gloucester City, Stroud and Berkeley Vale and Tewkesbury, Newent and Staunton. The role will be supported via a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the champion and the ICB. The full MOU can be found here but in summary:
- A GP with skills, knowledge, passion an enthusiasm for Women’s Health
- Funded at £13750 including on costs for 12 months and paid directly to your host practice via MOU
- Funding covers 1 session per week
- Further develop your skills and knowledge related to women’s health
- Support the creation of a Primary Care based Community of Practice around Women’s Health
- Build relationships with key stakeholders
- Provide a key link for the wider role out of Group Consultations for Menopause.
- Support and develop skills and knowledge for other GPs, nurses and support staff around Women’s Health
- Examine local population need in conjunction with the Lead Women’s Health Champion to help design projects and initiatives to support local population need
- Whilst your role will be allocated to one locality it is expected that a collaborative and supportive approach across locality boundaries will be initiated via the lead Women’s Health Champion.
